The Marcos Senna Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in November 2008 by football star Marcos Senna, midfielder and captain of Villarreal C.F. He became European Champion with Spain at the Euro2008.
The Marcos Senna Foundation has a great variety of objectives, but in simple words it just wants to become a tool to help to give back to society all the great support Marcos Senna has received through his career.
The Marcos Senna Foundation was created to:
• direct attention on people who are at risk of suffering exclusion
• integrate unprivileged communities through culture and sport
• promote tolerance and respect for human rights
• promote environmental causes
• contribute to sustainable development
• promote actions to help people in need of medical assistance
Marcos Senna is an example of personal development and sacrifice. Born in poverty in Sao Paulo (Brazil) on June 17th 1976, he always worked very hard to become a football player and achieved his dream playing for Corinthians, Juventude and Sao Caetano in Brazil, and currently for Villarreal C.F. in Spain.
Now, at age 33, he is enjoying the best moments of his professional career.
He is also a great example of social integration, and has gained everybody’s respect ever since he arrived in Spain. He was granted Spanish citizenship in 2005.
