Continental AG supports as an official sponsor of FIFA World Cup 2010 the Dibanisa project in Gansbaai/ South Africa

Hanover, July 2010. The Continental AG is an official sponsor of the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa and promotes the three-year Dibanisa project with total 10,000 € . “Dibanisa” means “together” and exactly this is what the Dibanisa eV federation from Hannover wants to do with this project: to reunion monthly 120 children, aged between eight and thirteen years, through an educational program combined with football and to show them development prospects by teaching them social values and rules as well as giving them extracurricular support. Over 4,000 children will be benefited. The financial resources are assigned especially for the project “Development through Football “in Gansbaai/ South Africa over the next three years.

“We want through our donation to contribute the supporting of the people in the region Gansbaai even after the 2010 FIFA World Cup, when the world’s attention to South Africa will be smaller. For as many children as possible, this program will be an important step for a positive development in their future – a place of hope, ” Continental spokesman Alexander Luehrs constitute the motivation for this commitment.

The tire manufacturer fellows the slogan of Nelson Mandela that “Sport has the power to change the world”. In Gansbaai was already built a mini football square (40m * 20 m) and a classroom, which are the central points of the project. To the ambassadors of Dibanisa belongs the professional football player Timo Hildebrand, who supported as a brand ambassador the Continental passenger car tire advertisement from 2004 to 2008, and Marcos Senna, who plays for the renomated Spanish club Valencia. Furthermore TV presenters Milka Loff Fernandes and Florian King are engaged to make the Dibanisa initiative public. The Dibanisa website www.dibanisa.org provides information about the progress of the Gansbaai project as well as other projects and as well as the ambassadors and promoters.
