2010

The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ took place from 11 June to 11 July 2010, and was the 19th FIFA World Cup. For the first time this tournament was hosted by an African nation, and it’s considered to be one of the most successful World Cups ever held.

Excitement permeated every city and person, the atmosphere and support were extraordinary. Social barriers were broken and supporters of every race, colour and background united to support Bafana Bafana. Clearly Africa is passionate about soccer and ready to move forward.

The rest of the world watched and saw a country that celebrates football and unity. Hosting the FIFA 2010 World Cup was a source of major pride for all South Africans, although one can’t help but believe that the biggest moment of pride was when race and class fell away to reveal one nation of passionate soccer supporters.

Visitors to South Africa have made it clear that this country is a shining example of forgiveness, transition and breaking race barriers.

Soccer is without a doubt an amazing tool for social development, education and upliftment. Dibanisa wants to see this passion continue through the implementation of their programmes in disadvantaged communities.
