Football & Communities

Community football has always received great support and it’s instrumental in solving social challenges. As Bafana Bafana geared up for the FIFA 2010 World Cup™ youths passionately supported their teams and it became clear that this sport is the key to educational and social development.

It’s been shown that when children are taught football rules they are more likely to behave in accordance with the rules, implementing them on and off the field. These youths require mentors to provide them with sense of direction and they look to celebrity sports stars because they stand for what these youths are capable of achieving. The 2010 World Cup was the epitome of sport success and drove home the success these children can achieve with enough dedication and guidance.

The skill a child exhibits with a football communicates success in the development of their personalities, sadly these don’t extend further than the football field, and this is where the Dibanisa steps in to provide these children with the skills to further every aspect of their lives.

As such, the quality of the local game is constantly improving and the untapped talents are eager to transform their lives and secure their futures, which often involve football and higher education.

Football has the power to:

  • Reduce aggression and racism
  • Connect different ethnic groups
  • Fight HIV/AIDS
  • Motivate people
  • Understand and apply the rules of fairness
  • Integrate people into new environments
  • Create awareness and respect for wildlife and the environment
