Coaches across Continents is an organisation that uses soccer as a vehicle for social change. It’s an international organisation that educates local communities to design and implement social development programmes, using soccer as the teaching tool.
Nick Gates – founder of Coaches across Continents – started this organisation in 2008. Through experiencing the real power of soccer in over 75 countries, Nick has seen the amazing community change that soccer can achieve. He has injected that power into the Soccer for Social Development initiative.
Coaches are sent to disadvantaged communities, across 75 countries to coach units of educational football sessions. The communities are taught wellness, conflict resolution, female empowerment, HIV prevention and positive social interaction.
In working with local teachers and leaders in these communities the coaches create sustainable partnerships to continue the development and produce long-term changes.
Due to their success, Coaches across Continents has received 47 new partner requests from 21 countries that want to expand, and change the lives of thousands within their developing communities.
