Just recently I read a quote from Rita Mae Brown, who once said: ” Why can’t peace be a single overriding common purpose: why do we wait for a crisis to pull us together? Let’s pull together for peace.” I loved it! But what does this quote have to do with my decision to take part in Dibanisa?
The world is growing together. It is hard to ignore what is going on in the world, and Africa is certainly one of the most important places to watch in the years to come. Peace and prosperity in Africa will be of the utmost importance for our own wellbeing. Dibanisa to me is a very real attempt to plant the seeds of peace into the grounds of South Africa.
Young people now have the possibility to come together to play and therefore fight and overcome the battle against hatred, boredom, crime and ignorance. They are actually grateful to use it already. They want to learn, want to grow, and they want to have a positive impact on society. And very importantly, not to forget, that they want to play soccer of course.
Dibanisa is a down to earth and manageable way of helping. Especially in times like these, where the financial crisis forces us to keep a very close eye on what is happening with the money we spend, I consider Dibanisa to be a good investment, which will have a lasting effect on our future.
So, I deeply believe that the money I donate to Dibanisa is worth more than money itself; it’s about giving the youth of South Africa a chance.
